CAGED

As part of the large annual exhibition by ART OFF HAMBURG, a campaign group established to promote the work of the city's independent art spaces, I contributed two photographs from my stay in Hong Kong in 2018. The ritual importance of nature for Chinese culture cannot be overestimated. Hong Kong might be surrounded by endless swathes of untamed nature, by water and forests, but the city itself is so densely populated and snarled in a frenzied rhythm that »nature« can only find its place in the most restricted confines.
